Poster Guidelines

NOTICE! The Presenter Acceptance Policy reflects the expectations of all presenters for this event.

In addition to the poster display on-site, we will collect electronic PDF copies of the posters prior to the program to include in the Virginia Henderson Global Nursing E-Repository and for use as continuing nursing education following the program.Please upload your poster PDF no later than Wednesday, 17 August 2016 using the button below.

You will need your abstract ID and password to sign into the system.

Poster Display Information

Sigma Theta Tau International will supply the poster board for displaying your presentation.
Board: Foam core
Board Format: Horizontal (Landscape) or Vertical (Portrait)
Useable Board Surface Dimensions: 2 feet by 3 feet
No tables, electronics, or audiovisual equipment are allowed in the poster viewing area.
Poster presenters should bring adhesive-backed VELCRO® to fasten their posters to the provided display board. STTI recommends that poster presenters bring both hook and loop sides of the VELCRO®, available at a variety of office supply stores. No holes can be made in the provided boards, and no additional supplies will be available on-site at the event or in the immediate area. STTI strongly suggests that poster presenters obtain VELCRO® and bring it with them to the event.

Poster Viewing Times

Please note posters will be displayed for one day during the event. Posters are schedule for either Chapter Poster Sessions on Sunday, 18 September or Leadership Poster Sessions on Monday, 19 Septemeber.

Chapter Poster Sessions

Sunday, 18 September
- Session 1: 8:00-8:30 a.m. (0800-0830)
- Session 2: 11:15 a.m.-12:45 p.m. (1115-1245)
- Session 3: 2:00-2:30 p.m. (1400-1430)
- Session 4: 3:45-4:15 p.m. (1545-1615)
- Session 5: 5:30-6:00 p.m. (1730-1800)

Leadership Poster Sessions

Monday, 19 September
- Session 1: 7:00-8:00 a.m. (0700-0800)
- Session 2: 9:45-10:15 a.m. (0945-1015)
- Session 3: Noon-1:30 p.m. (1200-1330)
- Session 4: 3:15-3:45 p.m. (1515-1545)

Setup: Saturday, 17 September - 5:30-6:00 p.m. (1730-1800)
Removal: Sunday, 18 September - 6:00-6:30 p.m. (1800-1830)

Leadership Poster Sessions

Setup: Sunday, 18 September - 6:00-6:30 p.m. (1800-1830)
Removal: Monday, 19 September - 5:30-6:00 p.m. (1730-1800)

Note: All materials not removed by this time will be discarded.

General Poster Recommendations

Be sure that your poster attracts attention, emphasizes important points, reads easily, and stimulates interest.
Facts should be printed in single phrases or words.
Facts can be printed on separate sheets of paper according to major headings.
Define unfamiliar or complex terms as simply as possible.
Use pictorial or graphic illustrations to clarify and enhance a message.
Use a typeface that is legible from six feet away.
Use a consistent font.
Use a minimal amount of punctuation.
The viewer should be able to grasp the total message in five minutes.
